Geared up for a festive season at sea –Crux Maritime Solutions ready to provide Off Port Limit Offshore (OPL) services in the Algoa Bay

Gqeberha, South Africa, 06 December 2021 – “CMS is your trusted maritime services provider for the Algoa Bay area, offering reliable, safe, and professional offshore (OPL) services to shipping agents, crew members, technicians, chandlers and captains” says Tommy Muller, Operations Manager at Crux Maritime Solutions.

While most businesses gear down for a well-deserved year-end break, the MV Zemora, operated by Crux Maritime Solutions (CMS), is ready to provide offshore services to vessels anchoring at the city’s two ports over the December period.

Although situated far from her major trade partners and markets, South Africa occupies a geostrategic location on major sea-trading route that lie at the heart of the South-South Trade, which connects the Asia markets with the Americas. The crew/cargo transfer service enables shipping agents to deliver on their commitments to ships offshore, at anchorage and calling in to the Port of Ngqura and the Port of Port Elizabeth. The MV Zemora vessel provides a 24/7 service 365 days a year, hereby enabling the advancement of the South African maritime transport sector. “This is quite a busy time of the year for us, but our focus is on ensuring the smooth and safe operations of the ships and crews at our ports,” says MV Zemora Skipper, Stephen de Lange.

The vessel can safely and comfortably seat 12 passengers for transfer and carry 6 tons of cargo on her 27 square meter load deck. Services include, amongst others, diving support, salvage and repairs, oil rig supply, search and rescue support, and delivery of spare parts.

The growth of the maritime industry in the Eastern Cape will diversify the economy of this region and contribute to the much-needed economic growth, maritime skills development, and local jobs, if managed correctly. Scope to enhance the sector’s contribution to the growth and transformation of the South African economy exists and lies within the context of the mandate of the Coega Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
