The Coega Development Corporation (CDC), an implementing agent for several projects on behalf of the Department of Basic Education in the Eastern Cape, has once again delivered another multimillion rand school at Ntabankulu Local Municipality.

Leaners of Madlalisa Senior Primary School (SPS) will be starting the school year in a newly built school thanks to the Eastern Cape Department of Education which has tasked the CDC to implement infrastructure development on its behalf.

The project has seen the successful completion of over twenty one (21) Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (ASIDI) projects by the CDC on behalf of the department.

As a result of the CDC’s expertise and extensive experience in project management services, the organisation has a portfolio of hundreds of projects across the country, thus contributing towards successful implementation of infrastructure development and maintenance programme within scope/ budget and time.

Madlalisa SPS project valued at a staggering R27 million has been under construction little over a year and has for the first time this year seen its doors open to hundreds of learners from Ntabankulu and surrounding areas.

The Madlalisa SPS project has made an enormous contribution to skills development, training and creating of job opportunities. Through the project, the CDC managed to create over 87 jobs for local residence of Ntabankulu and surrounding areas with the majority of them being women and youth,” said Mbulelo Jokazi, CDC DoE unit programme manager.

The Madlalisa SPS project has led to the school building the much needed infrastructure which includes, amongst others eight (8) new classrooms, functioning computer lab, science laboratory, resource centre, multipurpose and nutrition centres.

“In keeping with the CDC’s vision to become the leading catalyst for championing of the socio economic development, our involvement in such mega projects is premised on improving lives and conditions of the people of Eastern Cape,” says Dr Ayanda Vilakazi, CDC head of marketing and communications.

“Such projects are not just about the bricks and mortar, but the outcomes of infrastructural development that will reduce poverty, unemployment and inequalities through education and training of our nation,” says Dr Vilakazi.
